My amazing introduction...

Hi,
my name is Lisette, I am sixteen years old and I live in The Netherlands. I still attend middle school, but I cannot wait till I can actually start of my life. I want to be a writer. This because I love the feeling I have during the writing. It's one of my greatest hobby's. The others are drawing, playing football and (offcourse) reading. I now read Illusions, written by Aprillyne Pike. It's the third part of four and I think the story is really great. I am also a HUGE fan of The Harry Potter series, I must have read the last part at least five times. And I believe I will read it at least a hundred times more, maybe thousand. I also have The Hobbit in my closet and I loved it. I haven't read The Lord of the rings yet, but I will, because in my closet lays The Fellowship of the ring waiting for it to be read.

I also like other kind of books, but that's only five of them. I really want to read more fantasy books. So if one of you can recommend one? My favourite books are: Harry Potter (offcourse), The Secret Circle (book 1), written by L.J Smith, The Hobbit, Flipped, written by Wendelin van Draanen (Flipped isn't a fantasy book, but is really great!) and The Hunger games, written by Suzanne Collins.

Now my favourite movies and tv-shows. That will be a long list, but I will not list them all. My actual favourite movie is Flipped, after that comes Harry Potter and the prisoner of Askaban, the third one is The Hunger games. My number tv-show is Merlin, it's a BBC show about the live of King Arthur and Merlin. I must have almost cried when it ended after five seasons of watching like only a true, true fan does. I was a bit depressed. After Merlin (Best tv-show on the planet) comes Once upon a time, I must say that I am a big fan of fairytales (I almost saw all the Classic Disney films, but I believe that almost everyone has...), I have five diffrent books with loads of fairytales in it in my closet and I am truly proud to have them! And last but not least... Pokemon! Yes still after all those years. I truly love it, but what they've done now... That Unova. Bleh! I have no other word for it. Yes, I am a true fan but that last season... I don't like it. I am now watching the first again! And I still like it as much as I did when I was a kid. And I am really not ashamed for liking it, because I also like to watch Inazuma Eleven. Other tv-shows that I like are: The Secret circle, The Vampire diaries, True Blood, Pride and Prejudice and I think that was about it. I hear from others that I really should watch The Game of thrones, but I just keep forgetting that I have to watch it. It really seems cool to me, from what I hear and from what I see when I am watching HBO.

And I must tell something about my favourite actors, yes, I must. I am a huge fan of only three people. I was a huge fan of Robert Pattinson, or I should actually say Edward Cullen. Yes, I was there as well. On that point. Joining the famous war between team-Edward and team-Jacob. How pathetic I was back then. I must say that I will never, never do that again. Now I am only fan of Johnny Depp (I have been that for all my life), Asa Butterfield (!!!) and Andy Serkis. I really find it amazing how Andy Serkis plays Gollem/Smeagol, how he does that, how he is really "in" the story. He is just really the creature itself. It's amazing. And I think that Asa Butterfield is just a cutie. And it's a fact that he has the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.

Then now as the final: my favourite music. I like old songs from people like Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and mostly Fleetwood Mac. But I do listen new tunes from people who are not yet very old with grey hair. I love Oh Atoms (I adore their song Sugar mouse!!!), I like Natalia Kills (take me to wonderland), Ed Sheeran (Autumn leaves is my favourite) and Sia (my love is my favourite). And when I am home alone, reading, writing or drawing then I love to hear some of my favourite Disney music. My mother has all the Classic Disney music. My favourite song is Can you feel the love tonight, from The Lion king.
When someone cries, it is not because they're weak, it's because they have been too strong for too long-Johnny Depp

Always a pleasure to welcome new members to our forum!

Such a wonderful dream, being a writer. I really hope you'll get there! But seeing the large story you wrote above, you're on the right track ;)
As for me, I can recommend you the following books/series/authors:
- Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks (exciting, fast paced and overall packed with action! Lots of drama and crying as well.)
- Black Magician trilogy by Trudi Canavan (just... fun; it has the typical mix of elements I love in fantasy books: wonderful magic, chases, intrigues, romance and even a little bit of high school drama)
- Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb (really, you should try any book written by Robin Hobb. Such a wonderful writer with an elaborate style of writing... which doesn't suit every reader, but you should at least try!)
And... let's keep it at that :P

My boyfriend is actually currently watching Merlin and last week I saw one episode together with him. It's enjoyable, yes, but I guess it's better when you start at the beginning. Must say you've made me curious!
Game of Thrones is certainly a series you should check out. Read the books as well, they're (reportedly) just as awesome (haven't read them yet myself).

As for my advice, that was all. It's really nice to have you here!

By the way, what is Flipped about? I know the name, Wendelin van Draanen, but I can't remember if I actually read one of her books...

Welcome to The Heart of Imagination!

You certainly have written a lot about yourself... now there aren't many question left to ask xD As for book recommendations: I really recommend to start reading The Lord of the Rings rightaway - don't let them gather dust, haha. I love those books (although they can be a bit dull at some points.) Also, you should try out Terry Pratchett's books. Not everybody likes his kind of humor, but if you ask me; they're amazing :)

Anyway, have a nice time here at the forum!
