Book adaptations / Re: Game of Thrones [TV]

And if it'll not be a ragnarok, I hope for Rickon to get some interesting storyline. I don't know, it's just the way that he's hardly ever mentioned and pretty much always gave me the creeps when he was (in the books, at least), that makes me feel he'll be king in the end.

So, yesterday we (= Lone Wanderer, my mother and I) watched the last three episodes of the first season of Game of Thrones. Having read the book I can say the series follow the book very well, at least in the first season. (Though, they showed a little part of the second book in the first season already, but nothing mayor or something)
The only real changes they made are some scenes containing sex. They left some that are in the book out, and put others in. Dunno, it's so useless *shrugs*

Also, Lone Wanderer and I went to the Game of Thrones Exhibition yesterday. The props and costumes looked fantastic, but unfortunately we were only allowed to walk around in the church for 15 minutes, because otherwise the line outside would get too long. We wanted to get in line for a second time, but it started to rain, we had no umbrella with us and we would have to stand in line for 2 hours, so we decided to do some other things instead (Book shops! :E)
I really hope the exhibition will return to the Netherlands one day with a better organisation and such, because I love these kind of exhibitions.

And now I want a Stark-coat. And a sword.  ;D

Edit: btw, what do you think of the casting? I really like how Jon and Robb look so much like each other, as do Arya and Bran.  ;D

Edit2: The 2nd season follows the book less well, and not always for the better I'm afraid. Some things feel a bit rushed, even some important things. I think they should have left out some less important things (especially the less important things that weren't even in the books in the first place

Spoiler (hover to show)
).

Imaginaerum by Nightwish. It was good, better than I expected. Not a recommendation for most people, but most Nightwish fans will love it.  ;D

Welcome Lisette!  ;D I hope you'll have a nice time on the forum.
As for book recommendations: I can really recommend the Song of Ice & Fire series (Game of Thrones), they're fantastic :D

Aw, it's too bad Lone Wanderer and I are only on Sunday at the fair. But have a nice birthday! The Elf is a perfect place to celebrate it. :D
And well, if you see us walking around on Sunday, feel free to say hi! (I'll be in a red dress, wearing a skull mask and a big red hat with feathers (pretty similar to my avatar :D), Lone Wanderer has a Rainbow-dragon costume. And there'll probably some Harry Potter cosplayers around us and a girl with a scythe (BleuDragon)  ;D)

Anyone going to the Elf Fantasy Fair next week? I'm really looking forward to it, especially because it marks the end of some very busy weeks at school.  ;D (And there is going to be an Hobbit Orchestra playing movie soundtracks!  ;D)

YouTube had a joke? Or are you joking YouTube had a joke?  ;D

And I really like the one from deviantArt! They always put much time in their jokes  :) I'm still waiting for the Nightwish-joke, they usually have a nice one as well.

Other than that, I'm glad I don't have to leave the house today.

Have you seen them last November?

Shout: (*&^%$ FLASH! It's not always as logical as it should be, unfortunately. Giving me errors while I haven't changed a thing since the last working version... >:(

Art / Re: Book Covers
« on: March 17, 2013, 20:08:17 »
@Saphira: that was an interesting read, about the Book Cover trends. I've seen it so often and even though some covers look fantastic, it annoys me when they look like the cover of another best seller. Sometimes it isn't even fair towards te story, for a cover can be just as well bad advertisement as good advertisement.

About the faces on covers. I immediately had to think of this cover:

Apart from the fact that it's photoshopped rather bad, the girl in the front is just an useless addition. The main character of the story was dark haired (or maybe red, but certainly not blonde) and eleven. As far as I can remember there wasn't one girl in the whole story that had some similarities with the girl on the cover.
It's a pity, because the book was a nice read (for a ten year old at least). It deserves a nicer cover. :)

edit: Talking about real people on book covers, I just came across this book. I think it looks beautiful. No idea what the book is about thought.

Lol, Hans Kazan looks so much like Michael Crawford in that video (at least, that was my first thought), but I guess you guys don't even know who Crawford is?

@Nienna: I've never seen The Wiz, but from what I've heard it's just a bad rip off from The Wizard of Oz? I've seen Wicked though and that one was awesome :D (though after reading The Wizard of Oz I realized the story of Wicked doesn't correspondent with TWoO at all and could just have been a story on it's own) And of course I read the book of The Wizard of Oz. However, I also read some reviews of the movie and the story is indeed not that spectacular. Too much Wizard of Oz (19something movie) and Wicked and too less originality and depth) Still want to see it though, but I guess I'll wait for the DVD or maybe till it's on TV.

What's with all the fairytales and Oz-stories lately anyway? There's a Wizard of Oz series in production (described as: "The Wizard of Oz meets Game of Thrones", which doesn't sound good at all),  and I stopped counting all the fairy tale movies that have been released last year and will be this year. Don't get me wrong, I love fairy tales, but what's the sense of turning Hansl and Gretl into witch hunters and both Grimm and Beauty and the Beast in some modern setting? It feels as if the fantasy movie industry has ran out of ideas or something.

Movies / Last movie you saw
« on: March 12, 2013, 21:30:31 »
So, what's the last movie you saw, be it in the cinema or at home?

I can't seem to remember my last movie... Maybe Witches, based on the Roald Dahl book, but I'm not sure. It feels like a very long time since I last watched a movie.  :(
